English Ivy ("Ivy") - 15.1h bay 1999 (buckskin sire/paint dam) mare.  She is a wonderful mare and has a quiet and easy going personality.  She is a lovely mover and a fantastic jumper.  She has jumped 3'6" at home and shows 3' at "A" shows.  She is a consistent winner everywhere she goes.  At the "A" Rated Midstates Summer Show (June 18-22, 2008) she was Reserve Champion in the 3' Non-Thoroughbred division in good company and carried rider Ellen Reeder to 2 firsts and a second in the Novice Equitation division.  She is currently the Reserve High Point Hunter Overall in MIHJA for the 2008 season.  One judge at the MIHJA Double Point show actually asked for her in an under saddle class ("Isn't English Ivy going to be in this class?  I'd love to see her again.").  Judges love her fluid gaits and long, relaxed stride.  Riders enjoy being able to use their leg but not wear themselves out!  Mane pulling and clipping (ears included) are no problem without a twitch.  She loads and unloads, and stands for the vet and farrier.  She is used to a decent ride over the bigger jumps but will pack around first time riders for walk/trot and short stirrup kids over crossrails.  She does 2'6" courses for beginner riders.  She is great for medal courses and has an easy lead change.  She has even been ridden on trails and loves it!  No vices.  Suitable for all riders beginner-advanced.

What a pretty girl!

Special Edition ("Ed") - 16.0h 2006 Oldenburg/Thoroughbred gelding.  The breeder of this horse imports Oldenburg semen from Germany to breed her Thoroughbred mares.  He has been tested and passed with flying colors, and is microchipped.  Although he was just broke this year, he is very quiet.  His lopey one-two rhythm is among the many factors that make him the ideal hunter.  He's not spooky; He does not look at flowers and new jumps.  He is the type of horse that you can put your leg on and he's not going to squirt forward; he stays nice and relaxed.  He already has good show experience traveling to 'A' Rated horse shows and schooling in the various rings; he even did some showing in the Hunter Breeding Three Year Old classes.  He also showed on the MIHJA circuit starting with the Trotting Pole Hunter (in which he was Champion for 2009, even though he quit showing in that division when he moved up), and Cross Rail Hunter (also Champion for 2009), and the last two shows he moved up to Beginner Horse Hunter (he finished 3rd for 2009).  Suitable for an advanced rider with trainer supervision.

Chasing Rainbows ("Melonie") - 12.0 3/4h 1999 registered Quarter Pony mare.  This pony is an excellent mover and jumps so good it's unreal!  With lots of show miles on the MIHJA circuit as well USEF "A" Rated shows on the IHJA and INHJA circuits, this pony is ready to take your little rider to the top!  She has a permanent measurement card and a lifetime recording with the USEF and USHJA.  In 2007 she was USHJA Reserve Champion Children's Pony in Zone 5.  In 2008 she was IHJA A Circuit Small Children's Pony Champion.  This year she has shown in the Green and Regular Pony divisions and already has Champion and Reserve Champion ribbons.  She flexes easily for the kids and has one big hacks in good company (against the horses!).  A true "point and click", a rider need only to hold their two-point and steer.  She jumps from anywhere, every time - as honest as the day is long!  She an extremely athletic pony and can handle a deep or long distance, even to the oxers, and at 2'6" where she has competed regularly.  Plenty of step, she is a machine through combinations.  Although she does not always get the hind change with the smaller kids, she does have a nice lead change for the older kids.  No vices.  Suitable for a beginner rider.

Rock Solid ("Garnet") - 16.2h chestnut 1998 registered Quarter Horse mare.  Mares like this are hard to come by - it's like she doesn't even know she's a mare!  She is a great mover and jumps well every time, whether it's crossrails or 2', from a good distance or bad.  She is a Quarter Horse but is not the least bit lazy or dead-sided, nor is she a crazy runaway either.  She is very responsive to both hand and leg so she goes better for a quiet rider than a busy rider.  She is honest and keeps a good rhythm so she does not require a skilled rider.  I've put novice students on her to show what a lead change is.  She steers easily with no cutting, bulging, or drifting.  She was the 2005 MIHJA Reserve High Point Hunter overall and has been to 1-2 horse shows a month for the last 2 years.  On the IHJA "A" circuit for 2006, she has finished 9th overall in Baby Green out of 39, and 13th out of 15 in PreGreen, despite having missed 27 of the 34 shows on that circuit.  In 2007, she won year-end awards in the Non-Thoroughbred division on the Illinois "A" and Iowa-Nebraska circuit, and is the 2007 MIHJA High Point Hunter overall.  She is the same at shows as she is at home.  She doesn't look at jumps, even striped color and liverpools, and she has never offered to buck or rear.  She is a dark chestnut, almost liver; in the picture below she is body clipped for winter showing.  For more pictures of Garnet, click here.  To see her 2005 MIHJA show record, click here.  No vices.  Suitable for a beginner rider with trainer supervision.

Dear Abby ("Abigail") - 14.1h solid liver chestnut 2003 Paint mare.  This pony grew up in the wrong profession.  Started as a western pleasure candidate, they quickly realized she had way more stride than they knew what to do with.  Growing past the 14h mark was the clincher since 14h is the cut-off for ponies in the western world.  As fate would have it, this was a lucky thing for everybody because she has hunter talent.  She is a great mover, is athletic, and has a natural lead change.  She is showing over 2'6" courses.  She has been to an 'A' show at Mason City in June 2009 and an 'A' at Ledges in July 2009.  She is a sweet little pony with a good work ethic.  She has already shown in the Children's Pony division with an 11 year old rider.  She is also quiet on trails.  No vices.  Suitable for an intermediate rider with continued training.

Rock Candy ("Pebbles") - 14h chestnut 2005 Quarter Pony filly.  Slowed down by my pregnancy, we are currently just in the process of breaking this filly.  She is taking to the world of working horses very well.  She can be brushed, saddled, and bridled with no problem, and stands well for the farrier.  She longes very easily and isn't afraid of the clippers.  She has been started under saddle at the walk, trot, and canter and is very quiet.  She is getting show mileage already at MIHJA and USEF Rated shows in the Hunter Breeding division.  The most amazing thing about this filly is her movement.  On a scale of 1-10, her canter is a 12!  Although she is several years away from being a kid's pony, she is as close to a sure thing as an investment horse can get.  With her movement and easy-going attitude, she is going to be one fancy "A" circuit pony.  No vices.  Suitable for an advanced intermediate rider with continued training.

Pony.Com ("Joey") - 14.1h bay pinto 1986 pony gelding.  Students who have reached the Walk/Trot/Canter stage enjoy his extremely smooth canter. He tends to be a little jumpy about new things (new jumps, places, etc.) but once he adjusts he stays adjusted, so a better beginner rider could take him around the ring a few times and he would be perfectly reliable for Short Stirrup. Lead changes are okay, but sometimes he swaps in front and skips in back.  Outstanding on trails - he usually has to lead if the other horses won't cross water.  He is completely relaxed on the trails and not at all jumpy.  Eligible for reduced board if he remains a part of the lesson program.  No vices.  Suitable for all riders, beginner - advanced.

RECENTLY SOLD:

Rock The Kasbah ("Ra") - 16h palomino 2003 Palomino/anglo-Trakehner gelding.  Although he is 5 years old, Ra (named for the Egyptian Sun God) was just broke August 2007.  He is quiet and willing to learn.  He is currently showing at the 2'3"-2'6" level.  He is the kind of horse you can really put your leg on and jumps great!  He is a fantastic mover at both the trot and canter.  Please keep in mind when you watch the video that it was taken April 2008 - we had only just started teaching him where to put his head, and that he had only been cantering courses 5 or 6 different occasions before this video.  Before that he had been trotting in with a straight line halt.  No vices.  Sold 5/16/09.

Black Tie Affair ("Isaac") - 14h gray 2000 Quarter Pony gelding.  At the age of 2, he started his career teaching lessons and riding camp while continuing his professional training.  At the age of 4, he was started over fences and entered the schooling show ring; flat classes and cross-rails.   At age 5, he progressed into rated shows and was leased by various students.  There is nothing this pony will not do, the biggest attribute to Issac is that he is SAFE and loves children.  He has taught many children how to ride, jump and show.  During his career, he has been ridden english and western, carried kids on many trails including trail riding in the Oklahoma mountains, pulled carts and buggies in parades, and has traveled to many horse shows.  With camp and lessons, he also has awesome ground manners;  he clips with no twitch or fuss, awesome with farrier work, jumps in the trailer, ties to the trailer and bathes.  Kids can jump on him bareback with just a halter to play games.  He is content in the stall or outside.  He is an easy keeper and is sound.  Isaac has many show miles at 2'6"-2'9" and has schooled 3' at home.  He is always a champion with the short stirrup kids!  He is a kick kind of pony.  If his rider is unsure or looses balance, he will break stride.  Advanced kids wear spurs.  He goes in a smooth snaffle and has a natural head set.  He also has the step and making the strides is not a problem.  Since he has been such a reliable pony he has been ridden by a number of little beginner kids and his lead changes will need a little tune-up before going back out on the "A" circuit.  For more pictures of Isaac, click here.  Eligible for reduced board if he remains part of the lesson program.  No vices.  Suitable for a beginner rider.  Sold to a barn in Nebraska 9/22/08.

"Little John" - 15.3h chestnut 1992 Appaloosa/Draft gelding.  This horse is the ultimate schoolmaster.  Anyone can ride this big teddy bear of a horse.  Quiet and laid-back, he can be somewhat on the lazy side which can lend confidence to any timid rider, but once he gets going he carries himself.  Smooth and easy to jump, he would rather add strides than unseat an unbalanced rider, but will open up his stride and go forward with an intermediate rider.  A real solid citizen ready to pack around a rider of any age or ability.  Eligible for reduced board if he remains part of the lesson program.  No vices.  Suitable for a beginner rider.  Sold to a barn in Nebraska 9/22/08.

"Wags" - 15h chestnut 2000 registered Quarter Horse gelding.  A horse that's very responsive to the aids with nice smooth gaits, this one is lots of fun to ride.  He marches around 2'6" courses and has no issues with flowers or strange jumps.  He can be a little testy with the vet and farrier, but he is great about having his hooves picked and is very easy to load and unload.  He has a lead change and as easy as he is to ride he will make someone a nice little MIHJA circuit level show horse.  No vices.  Suitable for a beginner rider with trainer supervision.  Sold to a barn in Nebraska 9/22/08.

3 Carrot Rock ("Chandler") - 16.1h chestnut 1998 registered Thoroughbred gelding.  In addition to being a very attractive bright red chestnut with 3 short socks and a strip, this horse is very sweet and a quick learner.  He has given lessons before we had him because he is so unbelievably quiet and relaxed!  His laid back personality would almost make you believe he's not a Thoroughbred, but one look at his gorgeous typey conformation and you know he is.  And, he's very sweet about letting you take your time to look at his tattoo.  He has a very balanced canter, and his lead change is as easy as asking.  He showed over 2'6" in the Baby Green division at the "A" rated shows and schools 2'9"-3' at home.  He's usually Champion in a couple divisions each show - judges love him!  He is the 2005 High Point Hunter for the entire MIHJA circuit.  For his 2005 show record, click here.  On the IHJA "A" circuit for 2006, she has finished 8th overall in Baby Green out of 39, despite having missed 28 of the 34 shows on that circuit.  For more pictures of Chandler, click here.  No vices.  Sold to Somerset Sporthorses of Lake In The Hills, IL on 1/28/08.
