All riders must have show attire (helmet, hunt coat, ratcatcher, breeches or jodhpurs, and boots for hunter and equitation classes* and helmet, collared shirt, breeches or jodhpurs, and boots for jumper classes), except in the Lead Line, Warm-up classes, USHJA Poles division, Shortest Stirrup, Trotting Pole Horse and Trotting Pole Rider Hunter divisions.  *Riders wearing jodhpurs should also wear garters, and riders in equitation classes should also have gloves and a belt, but will be allowed to compete without them.

Every class offered herein, which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current MIHJA Rule Book, will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith.

STABLING - Please text in advance for stalls and shavings (309) 738-7767 - Rachel, or e-mail shows@HuntermarkFarm.com so we can have your stalls ready for you.  Please let us know what day and time you plan to arrive.  Stalls are $65 (Friday-Sunday) or $30/day.

NON-SHOWING HORSE - A horse that is brought to the show grounds, but does not compete in any classes must pay a $25 non-showing horse fee in addition to the stall fee (if applicable) for their use of the jumps, footing, and facility.

SHOW ATTITRE - Show attire is required for all classes except Lead Line Equitation, Trotting Pole Horse Hunter, Trotting Pole Rider Hunter, USHJA Trotting Poles divisions, Shortest Stirrup, and Warm-Up.  Show attire for jumper riders is: boots, breeches or jodhpurs, helmet, and a collared shirt.  Hunter and equitation riders must have boots, breeches or jodhpurs, helmet, ratcatcher (show shirt) and hunt coat.  Equitation riders should have gloves and a belt, and all riders wearing paddock boots and jodhpurs should have garters.

ENTRY / CROSS ENTRY - Exhibitors are responsible for a knowledge of the Rules and Regulations governing the horse show and for their own errors and omissions.  If you are unfamiliar with MIHJA rules, please check with Rachel Rock Robinson or our steward Sandee Cochran regarding the specific rules governing the show and/or specific divisions prior to competing.

ADDS / SCRATCHES - Adds and scratches can be done at any time.  No transaction fee will be assessed.  Full refunds are given for scratched classes.

JUMP ORDER - Check in at the gate for a self-posted order.  Anyone not checked in will be posted at the end of the order.  Notify the gate if there are any riders on multiple horses, tack changes, or conflicts.

CHAMPION AND RESERVE CHAMPION - To be awarded in hunter and jumper divisions only, to two of the four horses scoring the most points over fences, based on their total points including the under saddle class(s).  Division championship points are 1st = 10 pts, 2nd = 6 pts, 3rd = 4 pts, 4th = 2 pts, 5th = 1 pt, 6th = 0.5 pts, regardless of the number of entries.

STAKES CLASSES - The second over fences class in each hunter division from cross rails on.  In order to be eligible for prize money, you must compete in the entire division.  For every entry in the class, $5 is added to the pot, which is split among the winners as follows: 1st-29%, 2nd-24%, 3rd-19%, 4th-14%, 5th-9%, 6th-5%.

NUMBER DEPOSIT - Each number will carry a $2 deposit.  Please keep the number in good condition and return it at the end of the show for a full refund.  Or, if that number worked well for you and you would like to use it each time you show at Huntermark, feel free to keep it.  You will only be charged the $2 fee once.  Upon return visits, please write your number on your entry blank before submitting it to the show secretary.

OFFICE FEE - A $20 office fee will be charged for every entry.  Anyone can save $5 of this fee by submitting a blank check made out to Huntermark Farm by 8:00 pm Friday, the night before the show.  If the check is filled out, or if you pre-pay with an exact amount of cash, and the final amount of your bill is more than what you've given, and you don't pay the balance before you leave on Sunday, you will be charged the full office fee.

SCHOOLING - Both outdoor show arenas will be available before and after the show for unlimited schooling.  The indoor arena (65' x 180', lime) will be available at all times for unlimited schooling.  Ring 1 (140' x 260', sand) and Ring 2 (100' x 165', sand) will be available for schooling before and after the show.

FEED AND BEDDING - Shavings are available by the bag (usually $9/bag).  If you choose to bring your own shavings, there is a $5 shavings removal fee.

PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR - In accordance with USEF rules, all exhibitors are required to wear properly fitting protective headgear passing or surpassing current applicable ASTM / SEI standards with harness secured while riding anywhere on competition grounds.

TACK SHOP / CONCESSION STAND - Huntermark Tack Service is located just across the street from the north entrance (not the main entrance).  If you'd like to make a purchase during the show, Riley Robinson will be keeping the lights on and selling baked goods.  If you'd like to make a purchase before or after the show, just let Rachel know.  Text 309-738-7767

 

MIHJA Point Values

1-2 Exhibitors in class:

  • 1st place - 5 points, 2nd place - 3 points, 3rd place - 2 points

3-8 Exhibitors in class:

  • 1st Place - 10 points,  2nd place - 6 points,  3rd place - 4 points,  4th place - 2 points,  5th place - 1 point,  6th place - 1/2 point. 

9+ Exhibitors in class:

  • 1st place - 20 points, 2nd place - 12 points, 3rd place - 8 points, 4th place - 4 points, 5th place - 2 points, 6th place - 1 point.

 

Hunter Classics and Medal Classes are worth double points

 

USEF Guidelines for Rider Reference

May or may not be considered a fault (depending on severity and frequency):

   light rubs, swapping leads in a line, late lead changes, excessive show of animation, and adding or eliminating strides in a line.

Minor faults:

    deliberately addressing an obstacle, kicking out, spooking, jumping out of form, and jumping into corners of obstacles.

Major faults:

    knockdown of any part of an obstacle, refusal, trotting on course, wrong lead, bucking, stopping on course even for loss of shoe or broken equipment, circling while on course (other than the courtesy circle at the beginning and end of the course), and dangerous jumping.  In equitation classes, the following are also major faults: wrong diagonal, jumping ahead, getting left behind, loss of stirrup, loss of reins

Elimination:

    3 refusals, off course, jumping a fence before it is reset, bolting from the ring, and fall of horse or rider.

Equipment:

    All riders must have show attire (helmet, hunt coat, ratcatcher -show shirt-, breeches or jodhpurs, and boots), except in the Warm-Up, Lead Line, Trotting Pole Horse/Rider Hunter, Shortest Stirrup, and USHJA Trot Pole divisions.  Hunt coats may be waived in hot weather at the judge's discretion.  Horses in hunter classes are to be shown without wraps or boots, with a white/off-white contoured saddle pad. In jumper classes, riders may wear a polo shirt or other collared shirt but must have boots, breeches or jodhpurs, and helmet. Equitation riders should also have gloves and a belt, and riders wearing jodhpurs should wear garters below the knee.  Martingales are not allowed on the flat (except standing martingales in the pole divisions), no running martingales, draw reins, gag bits, tacked or studded nosebands, figure eight nosebands, or hackamores in any hunter classes.  Snaffle and pelham bits are appropriate.  Unconventional bits will be penalized.
