All riders must have show attire (helmet, hunt coat, ratcatcher, breeches or jodhpurs, and boots for hunter and equitation classes; helmet, collared shirt, breeches or jodhpurs, and boots for jumper classes), except in the Lead Line, Warm-up classes, USHJA Walk/Trot, Shortest Stirrup, and Trotting Pole Hunter divisions. ASTM approved helmet required for all classes.

Open to anyone of any age. Riders will be led at a walk. May be asked to halt, change directions, and demonstrate the two-point position. Points will not be counted for riders who are showing over fences. These classes are not recognized by the MIHJA. Non-member fee exempt.

Open to horses/ponies of any age or showing experience ridden by an exhibitor who has not shown over fences 2’ or higher in the last 15 years or ridden professionally. For riders who compete over fences, the points from the walk/trot class will count towards division year-end awards, but not High Point Equitation standings. Riders may not cross enter into Equitation B,C,D, or E at the same show. Once a rider has shown over fences higher than 2’ he/she is no longer eligible to compete in this division after the current season. Fences are cross rails no higher than 1' in the center.

Open to all junior and amateur riders who are current MiHJA members. Riders may not cross enter any classes higher than 2', and may not cross enter into the MIHJA Medal, MIHJA Beginner Medal, or MIHJA Mini Medal at the same show. All riders will show over a course of not less than 7 obstacles, that may include at least one change of direction. The top four riders may be asked to execute a test. Fences are crossrails not to exceed 1' in the center. Tests 1-4 may be required. At the end of the season, the top 12 riders will qualify for the MIHJA Cross Rail Medal Finals.
CLASS 123 CROSS RAIL MEDAL
MiHJA BEGINNER MEDAL CLASS ENTRY FEE: $10
Open to junior and amateur riders who are current MiHJA members. Riders may not cross enter into classes higher than 2'3 and may not cross enter into the MIHJA Medal or MIHJA Mini Medal, or MIHJA Cross Rail Medal at the same show. All riders will show over a course of not less than 7 obstacles, with at least one change of direction. The top four riders may be asked to execute a test over fences. Fences not to exceed 1'6". Tests 1-11 may be required. Fences 1'9". At the end of the season, the top 12 riders will qualify for the MIHJA Beginner Medal Finals.
CLASS 124 MiHJA BEGINNER MEDAL

Open to all junior and amateur riders who are current MIHJA members. Horse/rider combination may not cross enter into the MIHJA Medal at the same show. Winner receives a medal. CLASS 125 MIHJA MINI MEDAL
MIHJA MEDAL CLASS CLASS ENTRY FEE: $10
Open to any junior or amateur MIHJA member. To be judged in two phases (on the flat and over fences) with equal weight given to each phase. Winner receives a medal. To jump a minimum of 8 equitation or hunter type fences with or without wings. Judge or course designer MUST incorporate at least two tests from the US Equestrian Rule Book (Equitation Division) in the course. The judge will then select one-fourth of the class, but not less than 6 exhibitors, if available, to show on the flat, including two or more tests from the US Equestrian Equitation rules. Judge MAY call back additional riders if deemed appropriate and tests 1-22 may be used. The same animal must be shown in all phases of the class and with the same tack in which it began the class except NO MARTINGALES ON THE FLAT. Class to be judged on hands, seat, guidance, and control throughout. Jumping faults of mount not to count. Fences 2'9". It does not have to be their first round of the day. Additional rounds will be unjudged. This class is not recognized by the MIHJA.
CLASS 131,132 WARM-UP I OVER FENCES

Open to any horse or pony. This class will be open all day starting at 1'6" and can be done at any height the exhibitor chooses, depending on when they choose to do their warm-up round. HANDY HUNTER CLASS ENTRY FEE: $10
Open to any exhibitor on any horse or pony. This class will be open all day and can be done at any height the exhibitor chooses. The course must have at least two changes of direction as well as three of the following: hand gallop a jump, bending line, rollback turn, fence at the end of the ring or open a gate while mounted, trot over one obstacle, or lead over one obstacle. Emphasis on tight turns and overall handiness of the horse. Optional fence height 1'6"-3'.
CLASS 224 HANDY HUNTER
MIHJA TROTTING POLE HUNTER CLASSIC CLASS ENTRY FEE: $12
Open to any equus or rider that has not shown over fences higher than 2'. Cantering will be penalized. Two rounds judged using open numerical scoring. The first round of the Classic will be Trotting Pole Horse or Rider Hunter Over Poles class. The second round not to exceed 12 poles. Ribbons 1-8. PRIZE MONEY as follows: 1st - $20, 2nd - $15, 3rd - $10, 4th - $8, 5th - $5, 6 - $2, 7 - R, 8 - R. High Point Hunter points are doubled for this class.
CLASS 225 TROTTING POLE HUNTER CLASSIC

Open to any exhibitor on any horse or pony. Two rounds judged using open numerical scoring. The first round will be the same as Sunday’s round for any hunter division in Ring 1. The second round not to exceed 12 jumps. Fence height depends on the division in which the Classic is included. Ribbons 1-8. Every class offered herein, which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current MIHJA Rule Book, will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith.
STABLING - Stabling is available. Please call in advance for stalls (309) 738-7767 - Rachel, or e-mail shows@HuntermarkFarm.com so we can have your stalls ready for you. There WILL be a $10/stall/day charge for cancelled stall reservations. Stalls are $30/day, $65/Fri-Sun. Stabling is limited so please get your reservations in early.
NON-SHOWING HORSE - A horse that is brought to the show grounds, but does not compete in any classes must pay a $25 non-showing horse fee in addition to the stall fee (if applicable) for their use of the jumps, footing, and facility.
ENTRY / CROSS ENTRY - Exhibitors are responsible for a knowledge of the Rules and Regulations governing the horse show and for their own errors and omissions. If you are unfamiliar with MIHJA rules, please check with Rachel Rock Robinson or our steward Sandee Cochran regarding the specific rules governing the show and/or specific divisions prior to competing.
ADDS / SCRATCHES - Adds and scratches can be done at any time. No transaction fee will be assessed. Full refunds are given for scratched classes.
JUMP ORDER - Check in at the gate for a self-posted order. Anyone not checked in will be posted at the end of the order. Notify the gate if there are any tack changes or conflicts.
CHAMPION AND RESERVE CHAMPION - To be awarded in hunter and jumper divisions only, based on their total points including the under saddle class. Jumper ties will remain tied.
STAKES CLASSES - The second over fences class in each hunter division from cross rails on. In order to be eligible for prize money, you must compete in the entire division. For every entry in the class, $5 is added to the pot, which is split among the winners as follows: 1st-29%, 2nd-24%, 3rd-19%, 4th-14%, 5th-9%, 6th-5%.
NUMBER DEPOSIT - Each number will carry a $2 deposit. Please keep the number in good condition and return it at the end of the show for a full refund. Or, if that number worked well for you and you would like to use it each time you show at Huntermark, feel free to keep it. You will only be charged the $2 fee once for each number kept. Upon return visits, please write your number on your entry blank before submitting it to the show secretary.
OFFICE FEE - A $15 office fee will be charged for every rider. Anyone can pay a reduced entry fee of $10 by submitting a blank check made out to Huntermark Farm by 7:00 pm Friday, the night before the show. If the check is filled out, or if you pre-pay with an exact amount of cash, and the final amount of your bill is more than what you've given, and you don't pay the balance before you leave on Sunday, you will be charged the full office fee.
SCHOOLING - Both outdoor show arenas will be available before and after the show for unlimited schooling. The indoor arena (60' x 180', sand) will be available at all times for unlimited schooling. Ring 1 (150' x 300', sand) will be available for schooling during the morning classes, while the show is going on in Ring 2. Ring 2 (60' x 175', sand) will be available for schooling during the afternoon classes, while the show is going on in Ring 1.
BEDDING - Shavings are available by the bag (prices vary). As of May 2022 they are $9/bag.
PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR - In accordance with US Equestrian rules, all exhibitors are required to wear properly fitting protective headgear passing or surpassing current applicable ASTM / SEI standards with harness secured while riding anywhere on competition grounds.
CONCESSION STAND - Each show will have a concession stand provided by Black Spur Equestrian Center.
TACK SHOP - Huntermark Tack Service is located at 15602 13th Street, Milan, behind the gray house across the street from the Black Spur driveway between the paddocks. Riley Robinson will be working Saturday and Sunday and by appointment on Friday. He is also selling baked good snacks. If you'd like to pre-order a specific item and have it ready at the show, email tackshop@HuntermarkFarm.com at least 2 weeks before the show.
SPECIAL REQUESTS - Please let us know if there's anything that can make your show experience better or easier. We can be flexible as far as moving classes around or making any exception we can to accommodate you, as long as we have the agreement of the other exhibitors and stay within the MIHJA rules.

3-8 Exhibitors in class:
1st Place - 10 points, 2nd place - 6 points, 3rd place - 4 points, 4th place - 2 points, 5th place - 1 point, 6th place - 1/2 point.
9+ Exhibitors in class:
1st place - 20 points, 2nd place - 12 points, 3rd place - 8 points, 4th place - 4 points, 5th place - 2 points, 6th place - 1 point.
Hunter Classics and Medal Classes are worth double points
USEF Guidelines for Rider Reference
May or may not be considered a fault (depending on severity and frequency):
light rubs, swapping leads in a line, late lead changes, excessive show of animation, and adding or eliminating strides in a line.
Minor faults:
deliberately addressing an obstacle, wrong lead, kicking out, spooking, jumping out of form, and jumping into corners of obstacles.
Major faults:
knockdown of any part of an obstacle, refusal, trotting on course, bucking, stopping on course even for loss of shoe or broken equipment, circling while on course (other than the courtesy circle at the beginning and end of the course), and dangerous jumping. In equitation classes, the following are also major faults: wrong diagonal, jumping ahead, getting left behind, loss of stirrup, loss of reins.
Elimination:
3 refusals, off course, jumping a fence before it is reset, bolting from the ring, and fall of horse or rider.
Equipment:
All riders must have show attire (helmet, hunt coat, ratcatcher, breeches or jodhpurs, and boots), except in the Lead Line, Warm-up classes, Trotting Pole Hunter, and Real Low Hunter divisions. Hunt coats may be waived in hot weather at the judge's discretion. In all hunter classes, horses are to be shown without wraps or boots, with a white/off-white contoured saddle pad. In jumper classes, riders may wear a polo shirt or other collared shirt but must have boots, breeches, and helmet. Martingales are not allowed on the flat (except standing martingales in the Equitation A, Trotting Pole and Very Green Rider divisions), no running martingales, draw reins, gag bits, tacked or studded nosebands, figure eight nosebands, or hackamores in any hunter classes. Snaffle and pelham bits are appropriate. Unconventional bits will be penalized.
